Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals How He and Sarah Michelle Gellar Avoid "BS" Hollywood Life

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar don't think certain aspects of fame are all that.
Which is why the couple—who celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in September—have chosen to keep their lives out of the spotlight as much as possible. And according to Freddie, it's something he does think celebrities can control "to a certain degree."
"I don't know how deliberate they are in trying to avoid that BS," Freddie explained on the Nov. 4 episode of Brian Austin Green's Oldish podcast. "I know how easy it's been for us ‘cause I don't go anywhere."
According to Freddie, for him and Sarah—who are parents to daughter Charlotte, 15, and son Rocky, 12—maintaining that level of privacy is incredibly important.
"People don't see Sarah and I out and about at the popular places," the 48-year-old continued. "We have our restaurants that we like, and they're not super trendy in places where paparazzi hang out. So we're good at avoiding it."
The She's All That Star noted that while paparazzi will oftentimes be waiting in their neighborhood, he joked, "There's people that are way more famous than me on my street."
"So I'll just make sure they leave first," he laughed. "They'll go follow Schwarzenegger and leave me alone. You know what I mean?"
The Star Wars: Rebels alum also thinks it helps that Sarah "grew up in New York" and "experienced everything before she was 21 years old." And as for Freddie, it's not something he really feels the need to be a part of.
He added, "There's no secret to it, and it wasn't hard. We just don't like that life."
And much like he doesn't think there's a secret to living the life they've chosen, Freddie also previously discussed how he doesn't think there's a huge secret to their long-lasting romance.
"There's no secret man," he told E! News in August, "maybe it's just dumb luck we just found each other at the right time."
And as Sarah explained, she and Freddie make a point of finding activities that are just for them—like when the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum joins her husband for paint nights.
"I love it," the 47-year-old told E! in February. "Mine aren't as good as his. I don't do it as often. I also love adult coloring books. Sometimes, I'll just go up to his office with him. We'll just paint and we'll talk and just chill."
